In 1977, the Vanguard along with most major corps transitioned to two-valve horns…
This move was expected to add approximately five years to the life of the horns. The SCV booster club continued to put the corps on the field in style.
Although two-valve horns came onto the scene this year, the real debutante of 1977 was “Miss Amana”. For a corps that in its first few years had eaten many meals in fast-food restaurants and cornflakes from a Dixie Cup, this complete “kitchen on wheels” quickly became a treasured luxury and the envy of all.
