The corps once again interpreted Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s distinctive orchestral work. The original piece was inspired by the folk tales and legends told by Scheherazade in One Thousand and One Nights (sometimes known as Arabian Nights). But this time, the action picked up after her 1,001-night trial, as she reflected upon her own experiences at a time when telling a good story was literally a matter of life or death. Along the way, many of the characters that inhabit Scheherazade’s tales (genies, warriors, thieves, enchanted beings, and more) came to life in an exciting story of adventure, riches, and love.
